Treatment Options for Female Incontinence

Although both men and women suffer from incontinence, women tend to experience it more than men. This is because of issues regarding menopause, strain on the bladder from pregnancy, childbirth and the way the female urinary tract is arranged. Many women turn to medications or panty liners to try to combat this problem and avoid embarrassment. However, medications for female incontinence can have significant side effects. Thankfully, bladder leakage can be prevented without the need for medications or surgery with the use of InTone.

Non-Invasive Treatment

InTone is a FDA approved, completely non-invasive treatment that yields significant results for women suffering from female incontinence. InTone works to strengthen the pelvic floor and relax the muscles around the bladder, thus reducing bladder spasms when you cough, sneeze or laugh. The device will be customized to fit your body. InTone is a prescribed treatment device and can be done in the comfort of your own home.

Exercises

InTone also provides exercises to help strengthen your pelvic floor. The exercises are voice-guided with visual biofeedback to make sure that you are doing the exercises properly. Each exercise session takes about 12 minutes. Through these exercises, InTone uses mild muscle stimulation in conjunction with exercise to increase the strength in the targeted muscles. If you are being treated for stress incontinence, you will need to do these exercises 6 days a week over the course of 90 days. For urged or mixed incontinence, you will need to do these exercises 6 times a week for 180 days. After these periods, InTone will be used once or twice a week. To find out if you have urged, stress or mixed female incontinence, you can contact our office at the Associate’s of Women’s Health.

Data Gathering

Each session is conveniently recorded so that your healthcare provider can keep track of your progress. This is useful so that our healthcare provider can adjust your treatment if you are not getting the desired results.
